SILICONE
Silicones are single component adhesives that are usually cold or room cured. Silicones are used as permanently flexible adhesives and as fixing, sealing and potting materials.
Curing occurs with the presence of moisture (RH 30-80%), with reaction occurring very quickly, skin formation within 5 to 20 minutes. Curing occurs from exposed surfaces inwards, so products should be exposed to air until fully cured. Full curing will depend on the layer thickness, and can be calculated at 2 or 4mm per 24 hours (product dependant). Changes in RH throughout the year will affect the curing properties, and should therefore be controlled for consistent results.
